Robert Louis Stevenson Memorial (Alexander Stoddart)
Corstorphine Road Edinburgh
Alexander Stoddart’s bronze of David Balfour and Alan Breck Stewart stands on a random rubble plinth built close to the site where the characters part in Robert Louis Stevenson’s Kidnapped.
Sandstone rubble, traditionally built in lime mortar is constructed to a design prepared by the sculptor around a single piece pre-cast concrete core weighing 11 tons. A medallion portrait of Robert Louis Stevenson is set within a whinstone surround at the front.
Bronze casting by Morris Singer Art Founders. Plinth construction and bronze installation by Stoneworks. Unveiled in 2005.
